Honesty is always the best way to go. IMHO You should not expect a seller to give you honest quality goods and yet lie for you.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

Getting this thread back on topic...
The status of my package just keeps changing back and forth between "Inbound to Customs" and "Processed by ISC".
Which was supposed to come first? Don't incoming packages go to the ISC after Customs?

I was just trying to save a member some money . If you asked your wife I have a car part coming in from Germany if the bloke puts $25 value on a pice of paper ill have the part in 1 week and you can have $1200 to spend on your self and kids . or the bloke can put the proper value and ill give to $1200 to the government and the car part will take 3 to 4 weeks to get to me so you'll have to get the bus for this month and have no money for you and the kids this month. I think she would take the money .
When I post I would not deliberately cost my buyer any more then he has to, by simply putting a $15 value on a sticker on the box . I will always do right by people and save people money if I can . Im loyal to my buyers and always do what I can to help them in any way I can. but that's just me .
Ive looked in to it and I don't think from Canada to the US you will have to pay anything for the value of your goods its most likely just been held opened and re packaged for you it may have looked a bit funny on the X ray. So its been looked at and then passed back and will most likely be on its way back to you, when ever customs look at stuff they hold it up for weeks some times nightmare its always best if if your packet just gets delivered to your house.

Norbo,
You do realize that you have just admitted, in writing, to Tax evasion, fraud, filing false documents and about three other crimes. I guess you just lucked out that our two members who are UK customs agents were not on line or may not have seen your post yet.
I guess you will know when they knock on your door.
Mikilt,
Your package is declared as "Being returned to owner after alterations" which is the exact truth. There should be no duty on an item that has already been through customs once.
May I ask - Were you charged duty the first time the kilt was sent to you new? It was declared as "Sale of Goods" and the honest value of my labor was declared. (It was your fabric) Did you keep the paperwork? If not I have copies.
If you are charged any duty at all on this package you are well within your rights to appeal. Just show them where the alteration was done or better yet have them contact me as it is my signature on the customs paperwork. It is my responsibility to properly and honestly fill out the customs declaration.

Just because you are not willing to put your customers first doesn't mean every one is the same. I can see this topic getting removed your cements are aggressive and making trouble hear and I was just trying to help a fellow member save some money .

Norbo.
Looking after your customers is all well and good, but in doing so you are likely to be breaking the law with your present actions and far be it for me to say so, but I do say this in a spirit of kindly common sense. It is very unwise to admit doing certain actions----financial and otherwise----- on a public forum and further more and in this particular case, you really would be best advised not to discuss the finer details of your financial dealings in public.

Steve,
I have never been charged anything. It's that my experience has always been around 2 days to clear customs. It's the longer wait this time that had me concerned.

I can not speak in reference to Customs and any carrier other than FedEx (who act as their own Customs Broker.) In my case I had shipments on two different occasions supposedly held up by customs, and in both cases, the problem was FedEx. In one case, the FedEx tracking site, and FedEx's customer service people, were both reporting the hold up as being with Customs, when in fact, the package never left Scotland! If you want answers, you need to call the courier. Push the issue, and have them physically look for your package to know where it is. If they tell you it is with Customs, then call Customs.

Here are a few notes based on my experience, having shipping a fair few things over the years:
1) Packets coming to the US from Canada (Via Canada Post/USPS) rarely/if ever incur duties.
2) Packets going TO Canada (USPS/Can Post) generally will (but not always?) get hit for Provincial Sales Tax, but no duties.
3) Packages to the UK (USPS/British Mail) get tagged for duties/VAT about 75-80% of the time, probably more often recently than in the past.
3a) It seems like if Parcelforce is doing the end delivery you are a lot more likely to get tagged for duties/VAT
4) I have not yet been hit with any duties for goods coming INTO the US from the UK (via USPS/ British Mail).
5) Any time UPS or FedEx is involved you WILL get whacked for any possible applicable duties and taxes, in addition to their rather hefty 'Brokerage Fees' which can top $50US.
6) You lucky Aussies have a $1000 personal exemption, so order almost anything you like from almost anywhere. ![Laughing](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_lol.gif)
