Looking for Info About Central Iowa Games in June 2015
My wife and I are planning a getaway to romantic Iowa. Based on an Internet search it appears the games near Des Moines have been off and on the last few years. Any inside information on this year's games is appreciated. I did see them listed on an athletics calendar but I also read it was cancelled a few years ago.

I don't believe that Des Moines has had a Games event since 2012. Depending on where at in Iowa you will be and when there are several in Eastern Iowa during the mid to late summer.
There is a Celtic Fest and Highland Games in Cedar Rapids on July 18th

It's a smallish event to be honest, but still fun, almost more of a ren faire though, just the games, a couple dozen vendors food and drink, (a few local beer vendors always have a good showing)and a few other performers (a couple bands, actors, magicians, dance, piping, medieval "combat", comedy troupe) and exhibits (sheep herding, Bag Piping, etc)
Iowa Irish Fest and Highland Games in Waterloo is July 31 through Aug 2

It's quite a larger affair with a lot of other attractions going on alongside the games
Quad City Celtic Games in Davenport Sept 18th and 19th

I haven't been to this one yet but am hoping to hit it up this year, it's supposed to be pretty good, BBC America did a bit online about it before, it has the games, several rugby matches, dances, livestock exhibits, several different clans and societies have things set up there, a lot of other vendors, performers, and l going off their schedule last year it looks like there is a bit more history and learning involved (language teaching; history lectures; classes)

William,
Thank you for the information. September would likely be more pleasant weather and Scott County is on our research agenda.
