As I was leaving work, a gent approached asking "what no kilt today?" before I could reply he told me he wears a kilt much of the time, but as his kilts are all hand made from home (Scotland) and he works as a laborer he wouldn't think of wearing them to work. Then he asked about the grey kilt (a PK) I was wearing last week, so I gave him a card.

As stated by many in response to this post, I also have found that most whom have anything to say about my wearing a kilt are possitive about it.

My son had been wearing his new UK quite a bit. He ran into a bit of a problem with a drunk at a friends party the other night. The guy made a lot of comments. My son has never been one to avoid such things, so he inquired, "what's your problem, dude?" At which point the 5'10" 175# idiot tried to push my son, who is about 6'4" and around 225#. He is a line worker in a factory which manufactures huge I beams and used to carry furniture up steps for a living, so he is pretty solidly built. So, of course, my son didn't move when shoved. Then the drunk proceeded to take a swing at my son. Big mistake, especially when drunk. My son caught the punch in his left hand, grabbed the idiot by the throat, with his right hand, and put him on his knees. At that point, several friends rescued him and escorted him out of the party. Of course, the drunk had to have the last word, or so he thought .He went out and broke the CB radio antenna on my son's jeep as well as several other radio antennas belonging to his rescuers. They called the police and swore out a warrant on him for vandalism. I ask my son why he didn't swear out an assault warrant too. His answer was, "it wasn't much of an assault"

This is the first story (I've heard) of a verbal altercation escalating beyond just that. Thankfully, no harm came to any person and only property was damaged.

There's always one that bites off more than he can chew. Drunks are unpredictable and usually not right in the head. Personally, I'd bet the kilt really had little, if anything, to do with it. He was just looking for trouble from the start and the kilt was just a convenient excuse. I've had to deal with mean drunks on occasion, only once while wearing a kilt.

Sounds like a combination of both alcohol and testosterone poisoning...

    Your son handled himself well.

Did wearing the UK help with his defense? Faster moves, more flexibility taking the drunk down?

The way your son handled himself shows that his dad had his head on straight when he was growing up. Please pass along a 'well done'.

The maturity level of a kilt wearer and a non kilt wearer.

Kilt wearer - confident, self reliant, comfortable and nothing to prove.

Non kilt wearer - insecure, jealous, miserable and cannot prove anything.

Jerry congratulations on having a fine son.

Thanks guys from Mike (my son) and myself. Although never the one to start fights when he was growing up, he was never one to back down if fighting was nescessary, and I stood behind him the few times he had to fight.
