I am currently hunting some Irish tartan to make a kilt for our church organist. Want to make it before I forget all the things I learned from Kilt Kamp and from making this Patriot kilt for our son. Any suggestions for sources? All suggestions gratefully accepted! Thank you all for watching while I made this kilt. It was mostly great fun and very easy.

Gee thanks Mary! I was looking at the photos of your finished kilt the other evening when my wife came up and looked over my shoulder. I pointed out the one you made at Kilt Kamp last summer and she noted that you have two finished and I am still working on that hunk-a-tartan that I drug home from Victoria. I guess I really better get my keester in gear.

Being retired has tremendous benefits. AND you might point out that I deliberately chose easy tartan from which to make a kilt. The Mapleleaf tartan you chose would have given me fits! I applaud your tenacity!

    Mary ,

I have purchased fabric from Nick at Scotweb , here is a link for some Irish tartans :

    http://www.scotweb.co.uk/tartan?filter_searchterm=irish

I know that Rocky at USA Kilts also sells fabric , here is a link , just click on " Select your tartan " and you will see an Irish section .

    http://www.usakilts.com/13-16oz-tartan-cloth.html

Other advertisers here may also sell fabric as well , not sure , just sharing what I know . I'm certainly not endorsing one over the other . Best wishes on the Irish tartan kilt , regardless of the tartan chosen , I'm sure you will do superb job .

    Cheers , Mike

Wow! Thanks! I will certainly look at those. I'm excited about getting started on another kilt, especially for someone who enjoys wearing a kilt. Let's just hope he doesn't ask for the pleating to be to the sett! That's a whole ' nother learning curve. Oh well, here goes!
