Much more enjoyable!

I guess I was lucky enough not to get the bad commentary. It looks like everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day

Yeah, much better! Again, I apologize for the bad post.
Tanks, CDNSushi, for fixing it.
I enjoyed watching the whole parade, but I really enjoyed the pipe band. Not the best I've ever heard, but way better than the worst.

Good observation, but haven't we all been a bit "bleary-eyed" behind a glass of Guinness?

Does anyone know if there are any Tartan Day events in Japan? Our family is there until April 8th. Right after that are a bunch of Tartan Day events back in NYC to attend.

No, there are not. At least not to my knowledge.
The next major event will be the Highland Games, the first week in October. But other than that, your best bet is to look at the St. Andrews Society of Tokyo and Yokohama if they might have a spring event on their calendar... (http://www.st-andrews-society.com/) But to save you the trouble, I checked, and there doesn't seem to be anything at the moment.

Highland games in Japan?
But in Japan, they don't toss the caber... they ride it down the bloomin' hill!

Yup... It's called the "Onbashira Festival." It happens in Nagano Prefecture, and only once every six-seven years. I attended one when I lived there. It really was quite something. FWIW, fatalities aren't just common -- they're expected. But then again, by the time you get from the parking lot to the base of the mountain, everyone's so full of sake, they really don't give a ****.
