In any funeral I've been to in the UK, yes the majority of men have worn a black or very dark tie.
I use my old RAF issue tie(plain black).
The only exception was when attending the funeral of the wife of the designer of the keelboat I sail. She was also an accomplished sailor of those boats in her own right.
For that funeral as I was representing the class association, I wore a bright red and yellow stripe tie which is international code flag Y, the class flag.
Oh should I go to a funeral where kilts were appropriate then my Black Stewart kilt, black hose, white shirt, black Argyll with dull buttons and of course black tie would be worn.
