I PMd you about furthering the article once it is published, Peter, and perhaps expanding it to include other relevant items at Moy. I hope you will keep this thread alive by adding to it as you progress.

Absolutely. Here's an example of one of the many small fragments said to have been part of the original plaid.

    Mr. MacDonald,
I'm not seeing it. Is the image embedded in the "Story of Tartan" article? Or, perhaps this is an erroneous link?

So, here's a little tasker for those with an interest in learning something about the world of tartan research. Whilst I'm workng on my paper, have a go at finding out what you can about the Moy Hall plaid, post your findings/thoughts for discussion. Any takers?

All these plaids and kilts and jackets that Prince Charlie left at various places strike me like the slivers of wood of The True Cross which if gathered together would make a forest, or the "George Washington Slept Here" places which would have required him to sleep in a number of beds in different towns every day of his life.

How many Prince Charles relics are there? How many outfits of clothes would he had to have gone through?

I could be wrong, but as I recall in my trips around Scotland every museum and castle had something like that.

Definitely more bits claimed to be of PCE's plaid/kilt than there are bits of the True Cross. But what of this claim?

Your point is well taken, that a thousand false things don't negate the few true ones.
