I've seen a number of threads where two (or more!) reasonable, well-intentioned, people get into heated exchanges when they don't actually disagree in any substantive way!
It is always wise to avoid making inferences where implications are lacking.
Come to think of it, it's also wise to avoid making inferences when the implications are standing up and waving flags at you!

Sometimes a " prescription " of Balvenie 14 helps when reading a " descriptive " thread .

I don't think anyone is quite insisting on Balvenie. Why, I once witnessed my third cousin, twice removed (who once got lost and wandered north of the Scottish border for several minutes) drinking Bourbon!

I hope I won't be ostracized for saying this but as a former Navy man I have been known to drink the occasional Rum and coke (Pusser's Rum mostly)

I like rum! I prefer to drink it without the Coke and just mixed with a little ice.

I liked the bottle of Pussers i got given as a prize at the sailing club, I'd not spend money on it though I'd rather buy whisky.
