I am reading this with interest as well; I have a very muddled mixed ancestry of Irish/Scots/Welsh not of any nobility whatsoever in it, and I cannot trace the Irish or Welsh to any particular region. I have always liked Black Watch, and in doing some research have determined that someone who was an overnight patrolman for the county for most of a 26 year patrol career might find that a good match.

The Currie "Lord of the Isles" is directly attributed to Clan Mac-Dhomnuill-nan Eilean approval - done so in the early to mid 20th Century.

It was originally designed by/for William Currie of Balinlone as a personal/family tartan. He was given permission to variance the Lord of the Isles green sett by Lord Macdonald.

Thanks Mr. MacDonald,
I thought it was something like that. I've read that recount before.
