    mismatching tartans on Ebay, which?

There's an Ebay listing of kilt and necktie, said to be of the same tartan, Pride Of Scotland, but obviously different.

I vaguely recall something about one of the mills introducing a fashion tartan which was protected/exclusive, and the Indian or Pakistani weavers quickly making a knockoff of it? Are these tartans the case I'm remembering? Or simply two tartans which happen to resemble each other?

This kilt is acrylic and most probably Indian or Pakistani, but the tie looks like genuine Scottish tartan.

A quick peek on Google reveals both tartans being sold as "Pride Of Scotland" in wool, ribbon, etc.

    Here's the Ebay auction

The tie is Scotland For Ever designed by Alex Scott & Co. of Aberdeen c2002 whereas the kilt is Highland Pride of Scotland designed by McCalls of Aberdeen c2004. Both are trade fancies on a colour range theme popular since about 2000.

Thanks! I see a whole range of "Pride" tartans being sold in cloth and ribbon

and McCall's site with loads of "Pride" tartans

    http://www.mccalls.co.uk/the-pride-collection.html

which I assume are exclusive to McCalls yet I see that it's being woven in acrylic in Pakistan. I can't find any good photos of the cloth, the best I can find is this digital image

I looked up Scotland For Ever- good eye Peter!

Hey I came across this ribbon called Pride of Bannockburn that's yet another variation on this theme
