I've been involved in the background to this saga and still hope that the plaid may turn up in the castle. Unfortunately we have not been given permission to examine all the textile pieces owned by Lord Airlie to try and identify the plaid. Hopefully it hasn't been turned into a dog blanket .

Studying copies of the family photos it's clear that the tartan is Oglivie/Drummond of Strathallan but it looks to be Wilsons' era cloth. However, poor family snaps can be difficult to interpret with certainty and only an examination of the actual plaid will confirm its age.

Mods - suggest that this is moved to the Tartan Place.

Thread moved to "The Tartan Place" where hopefully this topic will be seen by more of the membership to whom it will be of interest.
