Tarheel, that is some of the most beautiful things I've heard. It is about having a sense of humour like the older couple, along with being supportive and like you say, being good friends. Mind you, we are about to do a major reno to the house and we've been told that kind of thing is a true test of any relationship.

I already told my fianćee I have to pass away before she does because I don't think I could ever live without her. Hopefully after several decades together.

I lived with my wife four years before we married. I asked her every year on the anniversary of the day we met to marry me. I told her (from the first time) not to answer until she felt she could say yes or no from her heart. We're having our 15th anniversary as a legally wed couple on May Day.
OH NO! I better get a gift before Friday. Got to go now.

If one of the reasons you are somewhat opposed to wearing a Royal Stewart kilt is the bright color may I offer that there are other Stewart kilts much more subdued in color. Both the Stewart Hunting and the Stewart Old sett are darker blue/green kilts, both, to my eyes, very attractive.

ive no problem with the color of the Royal Stewart. I find it beautiful. I just saw the others you mention and the Strewart hunting is gorgeous.

    Update
Fiačee said no to the kilt. So, vest, tie, pocket puff etc would have been the plan. However, here's the rub, she is accessorizing with pink and doesn't want me to clash. So what I'm thinking is Scotland the Brave tartan vest or tie and puff with the Stewart swatch inside. Only I will know it's over my heart.

Good luck to the happy couple and the choice if attire.
I'm just chuckling over the description of Rangers tartan as "universal"!

That sounds like an excellent solution to your desires and those of your bride.

By the way, congratulations on your marriage and I wish you both a very long and happy life together. The only advice I would offer is that while your relationship will change (for the better) after your wedding, always stay Best Friends, as you so obviously are now. Good luck!
    Regards, Sav.

The girl always wins, especially about weddings, so just agree that she's right for now.

For the future though: No tartan clashes with anything. Ever. It's a nameplate. It's who you are. If it's your tartan, it matches everything. Your name doesn't clash, so neither does your tartan.

Thanks WillowEstate. We've talke about the very things you mention. It is vital to not just love the other person but really like them. Let's face it, I'm pretty sure we can all agree that the same attributes we value in friends we values in our significant other. I just want to be an old man looking across a table at her and loving her wven more than I do now. Again, thanks. Your words mean a lot. Things she and I want to maintain.

John_Carrick. ok, I admit poor choice of words with the Rangers and universal. Our football club here insanely fanatical and most fans consider out team universal in the sense that we are the only ones in the universe that matter. When purchasing the kilts I have, I wanted to make sure there was nothing offensive to clans and their history. It's a matter of respect. Mind you, I've worn another Provinces football team ball cap and had a lady threaten me. She could have easily taken me out. She was BIIIIIIG.

Boy, is this wedding stuff complicated. Clothing, center pieces, colors, chair covers.

    Father Bill

Yea, it's nice she and I having dialogue about all things.

No disrespect intended about tartans clashing. It's just my fianćee is super concerned with details. It's the first time either of us have been married because we both take it very very seriously. She knows I've never told another woman I love her. Those are words I only intend to say to one woman. And that is the one I will gladly spend the balance of my life with. That is with her.

I really like what you say about the tartan and a persons family name. It's like a visual representation of family pride. Yeah, names don't clash. It's a union. It's about accepting two families together. I really want to honor all people involved in this wedding.

    Thanks again Father.

So proud of you the way you approach this! She's a lucky girl. Mine... we've been married for 43 years this autumn. Poor lady! Lucky me! ;)
