Thanks, all--especially Tomo: those pics work nicely as a substitute for weathered Maclean (red). They give me a good idea about the softer red paired with the formal black.

Methinks weathered tartan kilts are some of the most beautiful. I wouldn't hesitate to wear mine with formal gear - regardless of what some fashion rule-maker decreed.

Besides...you're in Richmond (lived there in the 70s) and who's gonna know? Most folks are thrilled just to see a kilted gent. Enjoy the thrill of breaking fashion rules.
