Stirling is great - I was at the University for a couple of Summer Schools back in the last century.

With our Yoda voiced satnav there are warnings at the approach, a little circle or arrow appears with a countdown, but the instructions are repeated several times during the approach, and on large roundabouts there is enough time for 'the exit you must take' as you are coming to it, so there is little chance of taking the wrong road.

I do like maps, and I think they are a nice reminder of the trip. I have even been known the pencil in the route on tourist maps - I can't do that on the proper ordnance survey ones - just not done.

0800 Saturday the 13th we catch a plane from Kansas City to Chicago to London to Edinburgh when we arrive Sunday morning. Hotel/Apartment on the Royal Mile just a block from the Edinburgh Museum. It is finally about to happen.

    Have a wonderful time!
You are probably at the airport now, so you'll read this later...
Please take lots pictures of yourselves, and of course we would like to see the Kilt.
After all your careful planning, no one wants to see this banner:

The museum is outstanding. I found a web site that had the history behind the closes along the Royal Mile. It was a good read. I wish I had the URL to give you. The shops are what they are. Holyrood was nice as well as the castle.

The last time I was there I took the bus (20 - 30 minute ride) out to Rosslyn Chapel. The stone work was amazing.

I hope to get there in late October for the birth of a grandchild. My wife will be staying for a few months. I will be there for three or four weeks. So I am planning a few side trips when I am not spoiling the new baby.

BTW: I have another grandchild here in Tennessee due in January. That will make three total. Sure makes growing old worth it.

Should you go to the museum and meet a guide with a badge saying Susan, ask her if she's a Stewart, if she says she Was, then that would be my sister!
I intend to to visit her sometime at work, kilted up, she's not seen me in a kilt!

This of course a case of having lived there, well 14 miles away, I didn't go to the museums because there was always time in the future.

    Enjoy your visit.
