    High quality Poly-viscose Tartan fabric.

Does anyone have any recommendations where I can purchase high quality poly-viscose tartan from an UK mill?

I want to find the best PV tartan for making kilts.

I appreciate any help. I have to purchase and pay for shipping to Australia so i dont want to spend lots of money on trial and error.

P/V stands for Polyester/Viscose This is a synthetic blend fabric of Polyester, and to use the N. American word, Rayon.

There is only one weaver of kilt quality synthetic Polyester/Rayon. That is Marton Mills located in Otley, England. Just NW of Leeds.

The Marton Mills P/V is 375 grams per linear meter or 250 grams per square meter. If we compare this to how we weigh other kilt fabrics it would be 12 oz.

It is woven in the ratio of 65% Polyester and 35% Rayon. It is teflon treated to repel stains and is fully machine washable and dryable.

I have been using Marton Mills P/V for many years. My rental fleet is made exclusivly from MM P/V.

Any kiltmaker who has an account with Marton Mills should have their swatch book. There are just over 150 Tartans available in P/V with more being added each year.

If you do not have a kiltmaker near you that carries the Marton Mills fabrics I would be willing to order for you and have it drop-shipped worldwide.

Besides a kilt, I have several uses for tartan made of this material, but Sinclair is not in their Tartan List.

Thanks for the link. It appears they do not carry the Keith in any fabric. It's a shame.

Please understand that the index in Mike's post above is just a sample of the full range of Tartans and fabrics offered. Marton Mills normally sells to the trade and we all have the swatch books of all the Tartans.
