Yes, Dusty, I use both delayed timer mode and a remote. The remote works only with my DSLR and then only if the angle and distance are correct. The problem with the timer is that unless you set the distance manually, it sometimes gets the focus wrong because you are not in the picture when you press the button. Either way knowing whether you are going to be in the right place for the level of zoom used is hit and miss. I frequently cut my head or legs off.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Friday, May 22. Wife and I went to the Biltmore Estate to see the "Dressing Downton" exhibit. 65 costumes from the first season of Downton Abbey with lots of behind-the-scenes information and photos. Most of the costumes were made for the series, but a few are period pieces and many incorporated period materials, like lace and filligree, in new-made articles. Very interesting.
They don't allow photography inside the house at all, so we had to settle for the obligate tourists-in-front-of-the-largest-house-in-America shot.

First BBQ of the year this Friday. Special request of youngest daughter. The weather was not ideal, sunny but deceptively cold, hence the 3 layers on top; first time this month I've needed them! UK summer.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Hope you have a great time, Mael, the Irish are pretty laid back so it should be fun. Hope the weather is as kind to you there as it was to us today. Enjoyed a very pleasant lunch in the sun after a morning in a court room (witness only). No pictures but one usher asked about the tartan (Black Watch) and the security guy asked if I had a sgian dubh (no, because I don't wear one casually and knew it would be removed by security if I did), but they were pretty relaxed about it with the kilt and garter buckles making his scanner work overtime!

tpa, the guides took every opportunity to compare Scottish and Irish things such as whisky. All done in a light hearted way. A number of kilt jokes a few new ones even for me. Not too much interest from my fellow travellers as all was suffering from jetlag and sleep deprivation.

Kilted Fridays Adventures
My wife and I went out to a local restaurant with another couple and then back to their house for cards and a few brews. Guys vs Girls. The Guys won by a hair. I wore my khaki 5.11 TDK with gray hose, t-shirt and Doc Martins. Sorry no pics.

A Kilted Friday, then a Kilted Thursday through Sunday
The Friday before Memorial Day I wore my Anderson tartan to work with a dark grey polo shirt. My co-workers are already used to my (ahem) 'eccentricities', so nothing much was said. But when I swung by the commissary after work I couldn't go down an aisle without receiving a compliment. I was even approached by a soldier who pipes and wears a Black Watch tartan because he can't trace any clan ancestry. I pointed out that now he can wear the Army tartan; his face immediately lit up.
The following Thursday was the first day of the Phoenix Comicon; I took both the Anderson and Army tartans for that and switched between them all weekend. No strange looks, but it's a comic and sci-fi convention, so plenty of compliments, and a chance to talk to some random folks about clans and tartans, and I even got nabbed for some pics just because I was kilted. (Or maybe it was the kilt combined with my 'Schrodinger's cat is dead' and 'Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya...' t-shirts.
