    Bad encounter, inevitable I suppose

On 18th June I went out kilted with my wife to celebrate my 60th birthday. We went into a local bar where I was accosted by a thug from a rival business. I'd never seen him before but he introduced himself as working for "Military Breaks" (A business run by a conman who will soon be facing serious charges). First he told me they were going to shut me down, then the guy I later learned was called McFadden called me a pansy in a skirt and continued with other verbal abuse. I resisted all natural urges and walked out of there with my wife.

He later assaulted another business owner and has done again since.

If anyone based in the UK is thinking of a holiday in Spain, don't use these people.

Good lord! Glad you're physically okay, although those things can linger emotionally for a while.
Now I certainly wasn't there, but I assume that because he has done this to a few others, that, at least, it wasn't specifically due to the kilt wearing...

Sorry to hear that some idiot tried to spoil your sixtieth birthday bash, but it doesn't really surprise me in light of my personal experiences of Spain and Spaniards.
I wouldn't be using "Military Breaks" or any other travel company to go to Spain.
I stopped visiting Spain after being pickpocketed three times in Fuengirola, twice from non-trad kilts with side pockets and once from a sporran. Also got scammed out of a big chunk of my savings with a so-called "low risk" investment fund with the Santander Bank.

Glad you're OK. Military Breaks have good reviews, presumably they write their own and hopefully Mr. McFaden will get his comeuppance. Reminds me of a recent local scenario where the owner of a business adjacent to an elderly gentleman was so unpleasant to him in his efforts to grab his land that the elderly gentleman prohibited the sale to him in his will. What goes around, comes around.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

No he's a thug employed by Military Breaks to intimidate other business owners. He tried to assault an ex Royal Military Policeman and got beaten to a pulp from what I hear. Nasty character but odd that with a Scottish name he should insult his own heritage.

A lot of the reviews are by friends and family, they are neither registered as a business in the UK or in Spain. He has been selling shares in the non existent company and is about to face fraud charges so I'm told. He has had three vehicles impounded for illegal taxi work. Pretended to be a military charity in order to con client details out of existing businesses and later poach those clients. He shut one business down through that. Took some of my clients the same way. He rents here, has no assets other than a few vehicles and will probably do a runner if he gets wind of the serious charges he's going to be facing. There are so many things he's done here, but the noose is tightening.

    Mel,

I am glad to read that you and your wife are ok. And I was happy and amazed to read that the two of you have now celebrated sixty years of marriage (hopefully all happy ones). Congratulations to both of you. Rarely do you find couple married that long anymore. Luckily I come from a family of long marriages. My parents just celebrated 62 years. And I had a great-great aunt and uncle who celebrated 75 years together. They were so close that when he died on a Monday, she buried him on Wednesday, and died on Thursday. They just could not stand to be apart.

Again, congratulations to you and your wife on sixty years together. May you both have another sixty together.

Dad gummit Hawk. First you criticize one member for not being absolutely exact in his home location and now you are critical of another member over a minor error in events! Is there no satisfying you?
