You should have your glasses prescription checked by your eye doctor. I feel great. Without the constant interruptions as in previous years, I finished that kilt during Kamp and started another one that I finished the next week. I also scored eight yards of the most amazing Campbell tartan I've ever seen.

I plan on being at Kamp next year. Maybe take the train from Toronto to Vancouver.

And much as it pains me to admit.... I missed you this year.

Well, I saw that picture with you secluded and forced to the corner, with no one around you all alone, almost like it was on purpose, I just assumed that you were sick and contagious. And then that big close up caused me more concern.

Well, I am sorry for not being there. I am sorry that you were forced to get all that sewing done. I would have expected continual production though, with all that personal instruction time you have been getting.

I look forward to next year already.

Alone and secluded? When you get your new glasses and can see more clearly you'll notice the top of my granddaughter's head just over my left shoulder and my grandson just behind the left edge of the kilt.

We all really did miss you, Kevin! I kind of wondered if you weren't deafened by all the ringing in your ears . . . We talked about you a lot. Then again, we knew you had to work and that takes residence over everything else. Harlan was like a man possessed this year. The kilt he made for his daughter was absolutely exquisite! It ended up not quite fitting right through the hips (strange, because the measurements were right on the money!) so at Barb's "I think you'll be happier doing this", he took the steeking out, redid it and la voila; problem solved. His daughter is a real Celtic beauty and the kids were as cute as buttons. And so well behaved! His granddaughter was really cross with him for not taking her somewhere, but soon got over it by being there with him. Very cute! Then he started on his second kilt and it was like he turned back into a machine again. He got a lot done, but boy was it ever quiet in his corner of the room. Ever been in a morgue? LOL He sure could've used your comic relief a few times.

Harlan taught me the correct way to do the catch stitch. Simple enough, but what I was doing was taking too much time, was too tight and the pulling on the front looked like crap. Jon was a very happy camper after that! I also watched Barb stitch her pleats again -- this time, my chin was practically resting on her knees so I could really see what she was doing. So many issues were resolved after that I think I did a happy dance the rest of the week. Long story short; there's little to NO back stitching so my horizontal lines all match really well now, AND her strategic use of pins keeps the horizontal lines from shifting. I can't tell you how glad I am for going this year. Old dogs really can learn new tricks!!! I love edu-cations.

Anyway, I hope all's going well on your side of the country. I'm looking forward to seeing you again next time too.

I am very happy that you have had a successful kilting year. Your report was what I needed to feel bad all over again. Thank you. Very well done!

I am sure that with proper upbringing Harlan's Grandkids can be fix of the possible damage done to them in that short time. His daughter is truly amazing to have survived him. She will be able to shield the kids. Ian had a tough job being the next closest to his behavior. He's a firm man though.

In your absence I did try to stand in for you and had a good go at Harlan....you know, slapped him around a little, occasional jocular rudeness, incessant sassiness. I had a few good ones but Harlan was in fine form. You ARE needed here so I would strongly suggest that you make a valiant attempt at being present for next and future years, got it?! Your presence is required.

On an another front and to the folks who were in attendance, at KK this summer I was supposed to complete another box-pleat kilt besides the MacDonald that everyone saw. This is Dress Gordon, box-pleat, to the white block. There was alot of trepidation about the choice of 'too much' white but it was decided that I should be a little daring and go for it! I think it worked out OK. I'll be making one for myself in exactly the same way but with one more pleat added to the mix.
