Support from the better half?
I'm lucky, my wife is all for me wearing a kilt, and at least hypothetically she is up for anywhere-wear. Reading through several threads here, I'm not getting the impression that everyone has my level of support. What does your SO think of your kilting, and if he/she isn't supportive, why aren't they? Dislike of the look? Dislike of the "oddity"? One too many flirts? ;)

I don't have a significant other, but I get no kilt love whatsoever from my family. They regard it as too eccentric.
This is why I have my "Kilt Hag". She is my best friend of nearly 30 years and she absolutely loves the kilt.

My wife is tolerant of my kilts, she won't go out with me on a dinner date or similar, but she goes along on Kilt Nights, and Highland games because I'm not the lone eccentric in the room...

My wife couldn't care less about me wearing a kilt, that is unless she is with me.

I'm new to kilting but my wife is totally fine with it. I'm always very neatly dressed anyway so the kilt isn't much of a stretch for me. My biggest concern is that in addition to being a firefighter I'm also a preacher and some in the congregation may view the kilt as wearing women's clothes.

My wife encourages my kilt wearing even though she tends to feel a bit overshadowed by me in a kilt as I get most of the comments and compliments (mostly from other women). Out of good manners, I usually thank the person for the compliment of "nice kilt".

Couldn't agree more. And anyone who would mention it to me I would teach. However conservative religious people being what they are.......

Mrs. Jones is supportive, and truly enjoyed Burn's night this year. She doesn't think it odd at all when I go into work kilted on Fridays. She was even enthusiastic when I got my second kilt in Scottish Wildcat Tartan as a birthday present to myself.
