    A very basic day sporran

Saw this advertised on eBay. It is an L&M brown leather purse with snap top flap and a leather strap. $USD 22.00 plus shipping. It's got three leather tassels which, although decorative, can tend to "clip-clop" depending on your gait. However, it is virtually new and would make an excellent addition to a highland wear collection for someone starting out. A quality piece for not much cash. The officers in my Regiment wear one very similar to this. (Yes, we "clip-clop", much to the amusement of the soldiers who wear a plain brown leather purse.)

There's something to be said for the understated quality of that sporran.

After so many traditional sporranmakers in Scotland have gone by the wayside, it's wonderful to see L&M soldier on making traditional sporrans of the highest quality.

I picked up this Black Watch style sporran on Ebay cheaply. It had not had the badge mounted on the front, but it's clearly the Black Watch style. Simple elegance and no clip-clopping!

I had a similar one--it always made me feel like I had my own drummer accompaniment.

I used to have a very loud day sporran, until I cut the tassels off It was a cheapie, though, and I probably wouldn't do that to an L&M.

For some reason plain days sporrans seem to be more expensive than those with tassels. When I buy one with tassels I make sure that they can be cut off, without the holes afterwards being visible when the sporran is closed. With most sporrans that is actually the case.
