What do you call her then? As one who got married just last Saturday, I am keen to know.

Congratulations on your recent marriage. You can refer to "the car, the house, the fridge" but it is "my wife".....
or at least this is what I was told by SWMBO 40 years ago....

Congratulations on your marriage I wish you both many happy years together. My wife loves your wife's wedding dress.
Anyway, I tend to call her love, with varying inflections depending on the circumstances at the time. I refer to her as; her indoors, my Mrs, my old lady, my wife (on formal occasions )
Using her Christian name in a dragged out manner usually gives her advanced warning that I'm on the scrounge for something which results in her raising one eyebrow and coughing up ...... Usually.
She calls me various names...some not suitable for these forums but nearly always prefixed by "you cheeky little...."
But we have been married for 37 years now, so what's in a name.?

Thanks. As long as we have been a couple, I have called her many things in jest -- "the better half", "the ol' lady", "the ball & chain", "the trouble & strife". Fortunately for me, she has a good sense of humor and knows when I am being cheeky (we have known each other for 20 years).

My better-half is happy yours likes the dress, and has authorized me to say that she got it on Amazon.com ($59) and the Shaw tartan sash was from an eBay seller, along with the rampant lion brooch. A bride frugal with the dollar -- a Scottsman's dream!

My wife is disappointed if I don't wear a kilt when I go out with her.

Interesting comments above. I hate labels and it's interesting that the group of very close friends with whom I was at university half a century ago and the people with whom I worked in my career have never referred to our partners by anything other than Christian or given names. Our sons (excuse the label!) have never referred to me as anything but "Sav." Why would they? That's my name!

As ever, your mileage may vary, of course!

Congratulations on your wedding, you both look fabulous - never lose those smiles you are wearing in the photograph.
    Regards, Sav.

Congratulations on your marriage. I would call her beautiful and the best reason for living. Best of luck to you both. And, by the way, you look great too.

And to you, DRWIll, congratulations on your wife agreeing to be seen in public with you. I have several buddies, none who are wearing kilts, whose wives rarely want to be seen with them. So, good luck on keeping her accepting the kilt. By the way, the hose are not the only thing kickin in that pic. Even dressed casually, you are rocking that kilt.

    Have a great week.
