Cross-Cultural Kilting is (or can be) Kilting At It's Best, as I have stated before. In Heraldry, the (Noble) Savage--which symbolizes Man at his fearless, unselfish, aboriginal, primitive, unbiased, State-Of-Nature best--is depicted wearing a loin cloth, which is what a (filibeg) Kilt is. Variations of, and elaborations on, the loin cloth/Small Kilt/filibeg and middle body wrap/Great Kilt/Feileadh Mòr are geographically prolific in history, e.g., the Shendyt of Ancient Egypt, the Toga of Ancient Rome, the Shuka of the Maasai and the Sarong of Southeast Asia. Also, the Trachtenmode jackets and lederhose socks of Bavaria are excellent and definitive cross-cultural Kilting items. And, as an African-American who is deeply proud of the Celtic roots of his family tree, I personally
still intend to someday make good on my "threat" to have (at least one) kilt made from Kente Cloth. KILTS AROUND THE WORLD!
