Fortunately, I get to wear one of my kilts nearly every day. Today happens to be Friday and I'm out shopping with my wife at the "outlets" in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. I am dressed very casually in my black AmeriKilt, black athletic hose, motorcycle boots and black leather jacket. My main task for the next couple of hours will be to "lift and carry" - hence the utility kilt.

This evening I plan to don my USAKilts American Heritage casual when we go to dinner for "Friday Fish-Fry" at a locals' restaurant.

If you are too busy to laugh, you are too busy.

At work today in a vintage kilt by Hugh Macpherson (in Caledonia Ancient) that I recently got off eBay. I am a Campbell and have never worn reds or "bright" tartan before this kilt. I am not sure how I feel about it yet.

I love that tartan. Both the kilt and the entire outfit look great.

Working with a seamstress to alter a tweed jacket for wear with the kilt. Getting things pinned up and checked. It's good to be kilted!

Good for you! I've been carrying on the Kilted Friday tradition in my high school (I teach biology) for several years now. We've been doing some messy labs of late so I haven't risked exposing my kilts to the smells/fluids. Students and teachers alike have complained when Fridays are not TGIKF in room 100.

Very good! Always nice to meet a fellow kilted teacher. It's great fun when students Tweet at me (I have separate personal and professional Twitter accounts) and give me props for starting Kilted Friday. Teacher stop by to check me out that wouldn't have stopped by otherwise and a few students have either suggested that they will ask for a kilt (such as USA casual or a UT Kilt or Sport Kilt) for the holidays or will "borrow my uncle's" for a day. Whether or not that happens, it's great fun to see such enthusiasm.

    Best,
    Jonathan

I have been doing kilted Friday's for about a year. It has morphed into "Cultural Fridays" and I have kids in a variety of ethnic dress that go around the school. It was really good at the end of last year, but this year is slow to get going. I have given away 4 acrylic kilts to students, some hose, and a sporran. It is fun seeing the kids get into this.

I like the cultural Fridays thing. I'll talk to my ASB advisor to see if I can make that happen. My school has a lot of different cultures and people groups represented and something like that would be cool. And give me a chance to don the kilt at school.

Granted, my my students freak out if I as much as wear close toed shoes instead of flip flops. Their reactions would be fantastic if I showed up kilted.

Kilted up, took my wife to a very nice restaurant for dinner, then went and saw these guys play live...

If you ever get the chance to see The Red Hot Chilli Pipers play, do it. It's just good fun!

    Kilted Friday, Not

Today, one of residents of the community I manage exclaimed "it's not Friday, why are you kilted?"

    Because it's St. Andrew's Day, I replied.

Now off to party with the good folks of the Scottish Society!
