    A nice piece

Had an opportunity to examine this piece earlier in the week. Definitely a contender for the oldest surviving piece of Prince Charles edward.

Interesting, Peter! With the visible join seam and the finishing along the selvedge, what was this piece of tartan used for? Looks like upholstery or drapery.

Can't be sure for certain as it's in a glass case and the owners don't know where it came from. My guess it that it might have been bed hangings. It will be the subject of my next paper; I have a feeling that it might be the oldest surviving specimen of Prince Charles Edward.
