Questions re: kilt from estate sale

It is easy enough to figure out the size- just buckle the kilt and measure. That may be a useful thing to know. Of course, what is even more useful is knowing if it fits the owner, who can strap it on and see.

There is always a tiny chance that the maker of the kilt will recognize it. Does that say PMH? Does PAUL HENRY mark his kilts that way? Is his middle initial even M? Or have I led you astray for no good reason?

Does the new owner think he may want to sell it?

Hi! Thanks a million for your response. I do not have the kilt but the new owner would like to sell it. I was hoping that by putting the images on this fine forum that maybe some feature or writing may be recognized. There's such a variety of experience and knowledge here.

Your measurement of 53" when divided by 3 gives you 17.6" which suggests to me the kilt would fit a gent with a waist of about 35"

It probably is about a 36, but the thing to do is buckle it up on the tightest and loosest settings and measure each. Then you will have a range of adjustment. Most kilt makers would consider the size to be the middle of that range, although a few go by the maximum size (which I don't think is as helpful as you might think).

My wife is Clan Davidson, although she doesn't even want a ladies' kilt, but owns a Davidson scarf, tam and kilt pin (to wear as a brooch). In theory my son could wear Davidson tartan, and that kilt might even fit him (?), but I don't think he has any interest in doing that.
