We have in the past had printed programs; I don't know if Jim had them done or ran them off on his own computer. They are quite helpful. this sounds good. We need to know to know how many people are planning on coming. I can post it on my personal FB page but we need to get the word out and a cut off date. I'll send over my phone number in a pm here in a few and we can chat about it.

Wil, please send me an e-mail. My PM box is nearly full.

Generally, I think alterations may be made up 'til quite close in. Tavern is used to this happening, they have someone who does
the food, they seem comfortable with some flux. I think last year there were about 25 - 30 folk. If we get bigger, more complicated
because of space limitations. Can be done, but would mean meeting down the street. At least in the past.

    Gie us a haggis!!!

Would sure love to join yall again this year at the Tavern. Being a bit high maintenance and having some other obligations (ie small children), I would need a date, and cost would probably be a factor, too. At any rate, would gladly participate as well in the event I can get there...

Which brings to mind a couple points: when would the event take place (23rd Jan is closest Saturday)? Is there a collection of moneys for the Tavern, or do we just pay when we show up (I can't remember how that worked)? Is there a piper available, as this seems to be the only really critical issue when speaking of "doing it right"... It didn't seem to be mentioned, but the logistics seem to be critical to the gathering even more so than the programme...

    Looking forward to hearing more!

    Cheers,
    Wesley

PS: somebody should make sure the Tavern remembers the difference between Scotch and Irish Whisky... just sayin'.

Heard from Jim. Time lag on response indicative of his need not to be in charge. He can attend, and is happy to do Immortal
Memory, so probably also Tam O'Shanter. If someone is eager to do Memory, he offered to stand aside. I'll make the same offer on the Address. We're willing, but flexible. He will contact Rusty, the piper, and will forward to me past attendees and participants. This may mean past participants might be available to repeat in their duties, which would allow first-timers the luxury of watching. I would have preferred that myself, but I survived.

Wil, I'll forward Jim's info on. He was thinking the 23rd, as it is, as Deil noted, the Saturday closest to the 25th. Volunteers still welcome. Payment is to the Tavern, not to us. I think out of towners can pay at the door, I'll check.

Consensus on date, and attendance commitments needed, but looks like we're a go. Wesley, will be good to see you.

For those who will be attending for the first time or who, like me, can't remember things well for a year at a time:

    The Celtic Tavern
918 Commercial St NE, Conyers, GA 30012

    $20 per attendee
This gets you cock-a-leekie soup, haggis and/or shepherd's pie, neeps and tatties, bread pudding with whiskey sauce, and a wee dram to toast with.

Don't forget to include a little extra for the Tavern staff who will be cooking, serving, and clearing up.

Dress code - just look respectable. There will be folks in Prince Charlies, tweeds, sweaters.

    Looking forward to seeing everyone.

Your Mission, Should You Choose to Accept...

May I recommend, if this is indeed a go, starting a new thread with the information more explicitly detailed so that others who may not be following this thread will have a better chance of finding out about the event?

    Cheers,
    Wesley

Good suggestion. We've received no input on date, and we're needing that set first. How flexible are you? Does anyone have problems with the 23rd? Does someone feel we need more time to prepare? Volunteers welcome.

23rd works for me. I'm drafting up a program design, and will be happy to read a poem or say grace (or both).

If I can come up with the scratch, I should be able to make the 23rd. I have a particular fondness for "a man's a man" if no
one has laid claim to it...
