I am a bit of a "color" sensitive guy, and much like dissonant music hurts my ears (what I get for having a music teacher for a father), dissonant color combos hurt my eyes, even when I am only wearing them and only having to look at them in a mirror. Some may say my choices are a bit matchy matchy but I do try to not try too hard worrying about it. Sometimes I just have to have some visual cue to pick up in something else I am wearing, and that usually ends up being flashes, a tie, or less often a pocket square.
Boyd seems red dominant tartan with secondary forest green as the dominant colors, and more small green stripes, and single white and yellow stripes. Nice mix. Since you are wearing black argyll and vest the kilt will dominate the overall look. For me I would probably pull on a white shirt, red or red predominant tie (maybe one of Jock's regimentals). For hose I would go to charcoal and use mustard flashes with less than an inch of color showing on each.
That's just me. but being as big as I am if I get too many colors scattered about my body I start looking a bit like a circus clown crossed with a billboard.
Enjoy your event. I am sure whatever you choose will work.

I was going to offer my suggestions, but refrained because I'm colorblind, my gut was claret or ancient blue hose with mustard garters/flashes.
My style simple, I have no style! I try and dress well but not knowing if I'm wearing green, brown, or red can make things interesting

I am colorblind as well, but I tend to both memorize the colors of all my clothing, as well as ask my wife, or children, or even the store clerk what color the item I am purchasing is.
I would suggest that green hose, with either mustard or red garter ties would not go wrong.

Fireboykirk , I might be tempted to go with Lovat Blue hose and red garters , just to add a bit of contrast and color with the red based tartan , even with formal attire .
Here's a look , check out posts 6 and 7 .
