Agree with all you say. I put my wallet in one of the slash front pockets with Survival or TDK.
I resolve the front apron issue by forming the habit of spreading my knees along with the pleat sweep as I sit with all kilts. This pulls any fabric needed for modesty around front while it is still hanging from the waist before it gets sat on and my knees get a little closer to each other.
