    Polyviscose kilt and hair canvas

I'm making my first polyviscose kilt and it occurred to me as I prepare to put in the canvas that the kilt is washable, part of the reason I want one, but is the hair canvas washable or should I leave that out or use something else?

Where did you get the "hair canvas"?

Got it at a place called Fabricland, I will go back and check to see if it's synthetic or natural fibres, I assume if it's synthetic then I can wash it.

The problem with Fabricland is that they may or may not have the same stuff month to month or location to location. They are sent trucks with fabric and they really do not know what will be on each truck. The stuff in your local Fabricland may be completely different from my store.
The only way to know for sure is to check the end of the cardboard when you buy your interfacing. I have found machine washable hair canvas right next to dry-clean only stuff.
And are you making a hand-stitched kilt in the traditional style or something else?

I'm making a hand stitched, so I'll have to cut out the pleats, there's a lot of fabric there. I will check in the store though for the type of canvas.

I find that with the lighter weight, thinner hand, and generally smaller Sett Size of P/V that I often do not need to cut away the pleats.
You are using Marton Mills P/V right?

Thanks for your help Steve, yes it's Marton Mills P/V but the pleats are deep 4" and 25 of them so there is a lot of bulk there so I think I have to cut them.
