Just finished the series. Loved it. How in the world did they let this end?
Now, on to Serenity, which I've seen and enjoyed before though without the context.

As I recall, the show suffered from several things. Mainly the series being aired out of order, along with the network placing Firefly in really unfavorable timeslots against other events, like football.

[QUOTE=Red Redwine;1316430]Just finished the series. Loved it. How in the world did they let this end?
Because it was witty, smart, well written and had at least one character that anyone could relate to. Having never encountered such a television program, Fox networks had no idea what to do with it. They decided to preempt it as much as possible , switch its nights around so nobody could find it, then they finally canceled it claiming nobody was watching.

The Operative: You know, in certain older civilized cultures, when men failed as entirely as you have, they would throw themselves on their swords.
Dr. Mathias: Well, unfortunately, I forgot to bring a sword.
Dr. Mathias: [as the Operative pulls out his sword] I would put that down right now if I were you.
The Operative: Would you be killed in your sleep, like an ailing pet?
The Operative: This is a good death. There’s no shame in this. In a man’s death, a man who has done fine works.
The Operative: Miss, I need you to go to work now .
well really the whole sword scene was cool.

Can't really pick a favorite..
I like them all, and have them on DVD. My wife and I both love the series. I DO have a favorite phrase: "Why'd you order a dead guy?"
