Wow, I just googled Leslie, MI and it's a good 4 hours to Geneva, which is at least an hour west of Chicago. The weather isn't looking too good for traveling via motorcycle. But man, if you want to make the trip, we'd be glad to have you! If not for tartan day, another time!

April 6th is National Tartan Day here in Manitoba,Canada too. I plan on making haggis with neeps and tatties and getting the clann all dressed up in the Davidson tartan. I will have to post some pics. There is usually some sort of public display in the provincial capital, Winnipeg, with Highland dancers and pipers but we have our own celebration out here in the boonies.

I ride far, I ride in the rain, and I ride in the cold (down to freezing temp) but I try not to mix all three at once, which is what it's looking like for Wednesday. I'll catch y'all sometime later though.

    Silly Health & Safety rules!

I can't go kilted at work, so this is the best I could do: Macneill of Barra flannel shirt from LL Bean. It was 33 degrees F (1C) when I left the house this morning.

I also cannot go to the bank kilted, but I am wearing a tie in the MacIntyre tartan today.

Wearing my Davidson tie, I have a high level meeting with new gov't people today, so the kilt is right out.

As a historian I have long marked April 6th with those now famous words - "for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom – for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself." The quote being from the Declaration of Arbroath signed on April 6, 1320 while the 696 years since have brought many changes, the document from a historical perspective has always been fascinating to me.

I'm not on campus today, so I'm at home doing some grading. I might throw the kilt on, but it would kind of be wasted on the dogs here. I will be in attendance of our local Tartan Day Ceilidh this weekend though.

I live in the UK now, but I still observe Tartan Day as in North America. I wore the first kilt I ever made today. It's Hunting Stewart in MOD weight fabric. I was making a kilt in MacKenzie weathered as I have a bit of down time (I am waiting for fabric to make kilts/ for the currently-forming Royal Scots Dragoon Association Pipes and Drums). I already have one, but this one is made out of remnants and is made with a few differences.

Wearing Caledonia ancient (a vintage Hugh MacPherson) today at work. I am also feeling a bit nostalgic as I as a University student, living in Scotland, when Tartan Day was officially declared in the U.S. back in 1998. I will try to get a photo taken and post it later because...
