I just got back from NYC, went down for the reading of various proclamations in Bryant Park. Not counting the band, there were surprisingly few kilts.

I adapted a work uniform for the day, in not a bad approximation of something suitable. As I was alone there are no pics, but since work did not know in advance it may be good that it "didn't happen".

Not allowed to wear a kilt at work (something to do with OSHA and powered equipment in a warehouse environment). I don't have my own kilt anymore, just the pipe band issue, worn for band gigs. Wore my LL Bean Scott Red flannel shirt to work, then changed shirts after work and wore my Scott Red tie to a performance of the Louisville Pipe Band at a local pub. (Currently not piping due to some medical issues.)

Okay... as promised, a photo from yesterday's Tartan Day here at work. Please pardon the poor quality of the laptop photo. I did not have any other device to take the photo and I own no cell phone.

Heard by e-mail from Leprechaun 91 that though out of town on business he took a kilt for yesterday. As for me, went to
my Wednesday bluegrass jam in Fraser Hunting USA casual, Bluegrass Festival tee, green Lewis hose w/mustard self-tie garters, and my usual moccasins. As usual, owning no phone means no pics, but reliable sources indicate it did actually happen. In remembrance of Merle Haggard on the day of his passing, did for the group his " Sing Me Back Home", a truly great song by a wonderful song writer.
Glad to learn from Isaac's post above that I am not the only person on the planet with no cell.

Two of us wore our kilts at Ingram Barge Co. in Nashville. On the left, is my co-worker and good friend, Tom Seay. He is wearing the Masonic tartan. That leaves me on the right wearing my Black Watch tartan.

Tom had asked several years ago regarding wearing a kilt to work and received a resounding "NO". I asked HR for 4/6 and they were very receptive of the idea with the nod toward diversity. They sounded Wednesday as if wearing them more than one day a year may be possible.

This picture was in our weekly email newsletter with a very nice write up about the influence the Scottish had on early America.

I appreciate the photo of you and Tom. I (surname is Ingram of the clan Colquhoun) thank you for bringing attention to the Scottish influence and heritage to your work place. I would like to think they had an idea it was the right thing to do besides the political implications of the situation. Could be fodder used to convince the company to let a few more days of kilting in the work place.
