Finished up the little fella. Made this one for my best of friends. We chased lizards together when we were six years old. Blade is CPM-154 left discolored by the heat treat (as requested ), handle is oiled walnut, and the hardware is brushed stainless steel. Sure hope he likes it. The dirk I'm on the fence about. I'm rethinking the fittings on the guard a bit but I'll post a picture once I've figured it out.

Can you tell us more about the seax? The workmanship is excellent, of course, but the creative combination of materials is far beyond excellent.

The little seax blade is made from an old salvaged timber saw I ran across years ago. I was experimenting with stablizing and dying on the maple burl handle. I do a bit of trade with a local furniture store and that burl was from a rather large piece I bartered for. The hardware is hammered copper. There's a little bit on the end I like that you can't see from that angle. I'll show you.
