Just pick up the phone and call. Rocky & Kelly are a lot cooler than any lame web site anyway. They were very willing to discuss at length with me the relative merits of the different fabrics they had on hand, what they recommended, etc. There is a lot of stuff in the shop, fabric-wise, that isn't on the web site and I don't think it would be fair to expect them to keep a full tartan inventory online and up to date at all times. It's literally two people with sewing machines working their asses off. We're not talking about Amazon.com here with a multi-million dollar war chest from a successful IPO to work with.
I agree with you Magnus, but I also agree with longforgan. Listing the materials for each tartan is really not that big of a feat. Smaller companies are able to do it. It clarifies information that the client may be looking for, and may play a huge role in which tartan they chose. Kind of a moot point as Rocky has said they are trying to get it back.
It saves the customer and the company the time of a phone call. In all fairness to Rocky and Kelly, that is less time that they are making kilts and having to talk on the phone (although I am sure a break is quite nice at some points of the day). I am sure that USAKilts has an email address that they can also be reached at to answer any questions.

WOW. That got a little harsh for a moment!

USAKilts has always noted the tartan name and the fabrics in the past... since day-one. It's nothing new, and doesn't take any time to upload a picture of the tartan, and add the script on the tartan name and material. Piece of cake.

However... when you're moving the shop and having someone else do the website, it CAN take a little time to get the logistics worked-out.

Patience me boys! They're MORE than aware what an informative website can do for business.

Madonna and hundreds of customers were NOT all driving down Egypt Road when they found the company. TRUST ME... I know that it takes a @*%&-load of work to make the kilts, do the billing, do the shipping, do the ordering, handle the other stock items, inventory production materials, maintain the shop and machinery, AND keep-up the website's stock and information. Go play nice now.

I have told Rocky a dozen times that I know a great webmaster that would help out! maybe a little exchange is in order!...

PS longforgan- I dont mean this the wrong way but you should be careful when speaking like that of not only long time posters and contributors but also a financial supporter of this site. USA Kilts is extremely supportive of X Marks the Scot and I feel I must defend them (as I would any of the other major site supporters and contributors).

    Hey Guys,

Sorry to jump on this late... Kelly and I are still moving the shop and trying to get things in SOME assemblance of order.

As I stated earlier in this thread, we ARE trying to get the materials listed on the site. I've emailed our web guy with an excel sheet of tartans and the materials they're made from. If you don't want to call me at the shop, you can either email me with your questions (rocky@usakilts.com) or with your phone number and I'd be glad to call you at any time. I can also email you the same excel sheet I emailed our web guy.

The main reason they're not all listed yet is b/c we're changing the format of the site... we're putting the tartan pics ON the kilt pages so it's less confusing. When they're all up how we want them, we'll have the materials listed. We just didn't want to double up the work.

Thank you everyone for defending me... it's very much appreciated. In Longforgan's defense, we are a web company and should have all that info up. We're getting there, but it's a process and Kelly and I are working as fast as we can. However... we will NEVER become a "strictly web" company where customers can't reach us either in PERSON or on the phone. That makes it too cold and inpersonal. Also, it's difficult to deal with when you NEED to speak to someone and all you get are "general response" emails and crappy FAQ lists (you know YOUR questions are never answered on one of those things ).
