    Opinions Required.

    Hello all ,

Hope this finds you all in fine fettle!?.
Ok onto the meat and bones on my title question.

I'm looking at a new jacket and waistcoat which will complement my Ancient Shaw kilt. ( see tartan on my name ).

Now I could go standard Argyl in black but I'm kind of leaning towards something in Grey Tweed , however I'm very undecided on the matter.
This is the Grey which I'm looking at.

    Opinions please?.

Grey tweed is fine. Have you considered other colours other than black or grey? Green and brown are fine choices too. Then you could get a tad more adventurous by thinking about tweed patterns. Just a thought.

I had considered a blue but thought it maybe a bit overkill with the blue in my kilt.

Not keen on brown and green id not even considered but it's
    Food for thought that one!.

    Cheers, David

Grey is perfect! It combines well with many (if not all) colours!

I love my Charcoal Gray Kilt Kut Suit Coat. It goes with everything and is perfect for almost everything less than formal.

Notice the 3 button front. Regular jacket cuff instead of the Gauntlet Argyle cuff, the lack of epaulettes and the pocket flaps which work equally well out or tucked in.

I often pair my jacket with contrasting color vests.

Who says browns and grays don't work well together?

Oh, and by the way, the light gray jacket in post one is not an Argyle. It has the placket cuff treatment like a Prince Charlie so is called a Braemar.

    Thanks Steven,

That's given me some very positive influence to go for a grey Braemar or Crail.

Also the event I'm going to requires a bit of pomp.
What do you think to this one?.

I like it, but I don't like the part of me that likes it.

I think you'll be happier with something like the first one. At least I would be happier with the first one.

I think a grey tweed argyll jacket is a wonderful thing to have in your wardrobe, they always work. Here are a few photos showing different tweeds and tartans. Brown and the lovats blue and green all work very well indeed as you can see below.

Of course you can not discount a busier tweed as they look smashing as well

As for the second jacket I would give it a pass as to me it looks more costume than anything else.

You will look like that you are someone's footman who has got lost in that. You are wearing the kilt, so you will already be standing out you really do not need that jacket's------ er----- um-----ah---rather doubtful help.
