A friend of mine jokes that when he learns something new, he 'loses' part of his prior education. e.g. "Well, there goes second grade math", "There goes part of geometry", etc.

I had an uncle who said his new knowledge pushed his hair off. My full head of hair is testimonial of my ignorance.

Jock, it's just that we've learned so much new stuff that the old stuff is getting pushed out of our heads for lack of space.

Not sure about that, Father Bill. My philosophy is to learn something new every day (and I've had nearly 26,000 of them!) so we have so much stuff filed away, it just takes us that much longer to find it. Doesn't help if, like me, your most populous mental index letter is R - for Random!
