    Welcome to the "Great Rabble!"
I was originally going to have a local guy make it, but he retired a month before I started my order. He referred me to atlantakilts.com

I went with the "Dunlop ancient" tartan

Well then, here's your measuring guide: http://www.atlantakilts.com/guides/measuring/ Using anyone else's including your own will guarantee problems.

Thanks! That's what I did. I followed their guide to a T. Maybe my body is just a bit odd. I'll try the towel technique and see how it goes

Well, an "odd" body sounds familiar to me! Well done.

So, I tried the towel test. Does this look right to you? It's sitting right on my navel and hits at the top of my knee.

Looks fine to me..the real question is are you happy with where it lands? That's all that matters.

The camera angle is making the towel look a lot lower than it actually is. If you'll notice, at the bottom of the frame you can see the tops of his feet.

OP, while I think you're good to go, if you want to try again with a photo have the person with the camera kneel or crouch instead of stand.
