Forrestermodern Breaks Wind ! uhhh....... Breaks into the Windy City !
Stupid Autocorrect.
Flew into Chicago yesterday morning for the first of 5 days of professional meetings. Want to say a big THANKS to the Windy City Rabble for hosting me at the Duke of Perth pub just north of downtown Chicago, orchestrated in large part by Mikilt (Mike). Also in attendance were McFarkas (Mark) and Sample m (Jeremiah). We dined (my bangers and mash with neeps was particulalry tasty), we drank (Talisker Storm seem like the malt of choice, and a great choice at that), we chatted, laughed, remembered about all manner of things, kilt related or not. In the end I have made three new friends, and had another successful have-kilt-will-travel kilt night with another fine group of locals. And just so's you ne'er believers cannot say it did not happen see picture below:

ForresterModern (me, aka Jeff, in Weathered Douglas tank), Sample m (Jeremiah), McFarkas (Mark), and Mikilt (Mike in Cthullu).
If you fellows want to chime in with your tartan please do as else you know someone will ask.
To complete a social circle entirely unexpectedly, I am also wearing a hand made wool bonnet by our own DixieCat, who was the love of our dear departed Turpin, who just happened to be brother to McFarkas, one of my newfound friends. My family and I had the pleasure of meeting and sharing a meal with Turpin and Dixicat (the lovely Beverly) at the 2012 Stone Mountain Games. Finer folks I think I have never met. My, the world is just one wonderful circle.
Thanks again gents for the wonderful evening and your company and friendship.

First, GR, you missed a pretty goo time. Second, you have a great group of fellow kilties here in Big Windy. Third, I am only 6'4.5" (may another inch in the shoes). Lastly I too look forward to my next trip this direction.
Enjoy Hot-lanta. They have a great group of guys out by Stone Mountain if you get a chance to hook up with them.

Had a brilliant time with all!
Really, great conversation with great company. Looking forward to your next visit, or if I ever pass through your part of the world.

I had a great time. It was good to introduce folks to the Duke of Perth.
I just realize there's another Kilt night coming up May 27th with the Chicago Men in Kilts group.

Glad you all had a great time. In passing, I cannot help but note that FM is wearing a decent bonnet-------- for a change!

Jock, this is one of Beverly's (Dixiecat) handknit bonnets of which I have two, and which have become my default go to bonnets more and more of late. Maybe you are finally wearing off on me, or at least wearing down the rough edges, my friend. Thanks for noticing.
For me it is a nice change from the baseball cap I am wearing regularly now coaching The Boy's little league team---a seemingly endless adventure.

Hi from the Chi-town 'burbs! **Waves!**
I LOVE that Weathered Douglas kilt. I have absolutely zero need for another kilt ( mine is Douglas Gray) but if I ever do, that would be a top contender. Do you know who the weaver of the fabric is?
Creighton by birth, Douglass by marriage, Piper at heart

Sorry for the delay, PiperChick. Been tied up with things non-kilt-related.
The tartan is 16 oz Lochcarron strome, and part of their standard stable of tartans. As far as I know they are the only weaver of this particular color scheme, although I think you can get custom weaves or the similar Dalgleish Douglas Blue Reproduction colors.
