My sample is roughly 12 x 14" so the sett size is approximately 8". I used the 1819 count however, Wilsons' cloth, in this setting, was finer and the sett would therefore have been correspondingly smaller. I don't have my research papers to hand but it would have been about 6" if I recall correctly.

I have a follow up question. Would this tartan appear too small on a kilt? I'm having a difficult time visualizing it as a finished product. I'm leaning towards a USAK casual kilt, and I've seen comparisons of 16 oz wool v. PV in some tartans, and the difference in size is very noticeable. My fear would be that it would appear more like a checkered pattern, rather than how it appears in the photo above.

Tartans with smaller sett sizes do tend to get pretty small when woven in PV. I`ve seen a few that I didn`t think worked too well. I`d talk to Rocky about it.
