Och aye! And meself as well, but mine has a "n" at the end. I do very much enjoy Macallans, it is one of my favorites, and kept upside down to keep the cork wet.

Ha! Fat fingers again! That is the first I've heard of keeping the cork wet. Makes sense, except I go through it too fast to let the cork dry!
    Regards,
    Tom

I keep all my scotch upside down in a wine thingie to keep the corks wet. As a result of some heavy duty prescrtibed drugs I'm on, I can pretty much only drink on the weekends. My go-to Scot drink is McEwans Scotch Ale.

I had my first 10yr Laprhroaig at the 2015 Chicago Scots Fest and I was immediately smitten So much so I enjoyed a number of not so wee drams that evening , medicinally of course , so that I could tell my wife of the new love in my life . I have since found that the 10yr cask strength has become my #1 with Arbelour 16yr coming in a complimentary 2nd And always in a Glencairn glass ... neat ... maybe a ml or two of water at most

Just back from convening for Clan Sinclair at the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games, where I had drams of: Old Pulteney 12, Highland Park 12, Abelour 16, Jura, Auchentoshan, The Black Grouse, Dewar's, Glenmorangie, and something homemade that was clear with a slight apple flavor and a big kick.

While horizontal is correct for storing wine, I've always heard (confirmed by a number of online whisky forums and guides for what that's worth) that liquor bottles should be stored upright. Otherwise the continuous contact between high-alcohol spirit and cork will reek havoc with the liquor within a rather short period of time. When it comes to contact between liquid contents and corks, whisky simply is not like wine!

Just my $.02 worth, your mileage may vary!

I recently returned from a vacation in Cape Breton. Had the good fortune to visit the Glenora Distillery in Glenville. They have a very nice pub on the premises, and at lunch my wife and I got to enjoy meeting and listening to a fiddler and pianist playing some Cape Breton tunes. The fiddler even let me play a couple of old Scots tunes!

We got to sample their fine single malt whiskys, and I purchased two bottles to bring back home with me. I'm enjoying a wee bit of Glen Breton Rare 14 year old tonight.
