Stan, I make two types of sporrans. One is saddle quality leather formed while wet to retain a shape, the other is pliable leather (like the suede one shown here) that lays flat. My latest (shown on the right in the photo) has a fur exterior sewn onto a formed body. I fill it to retain the shape of the body, whereas I do not fill the other for storing or travel.
These are just my examples and not the only option or choice of others.
