Old time kilt making instructions

FYI: I was looking through some of my old tailoring manuals and discovered "How to make a Highland Kilt" in my copy of "The Cutter's Practical Guide to the cutting all kinds of Trousers, Breeches, Gaiters, &c.", circa approximately 1894. I am going to try to attach images of the 2 and a bit pages here.

I saw that too, maybe a misprint, as the diagram clearly does not show that. Also, it states that the right side has the strap attached to the pleated portion and connecting to a buckle on the apron. Never seen that done.

I have been amazed with the errors and the typos that I have noticed while reading these old tailoring manuals. I think that the author assumed a certain level of training in their system in anyone choosing to use them. One of the really amazing things about this book is that it is one of a set of 13 books and they are considered to be the books to have. I have been able to locate 11 of them in digital format.

Sometimes I have just had to scratch my head and move on to the next thing.

I just thought that some of you would be interested in the minimal level of information that they felt was needed for the average tailor to figure out how to make a kilt.
