    A regular kilt pin will leave permanent holes in the leather. I'd look at something that uses a magnet instead. You'll probably need to DIY, but it's not difficult to do.

    A kilt pin's primary purpose is to provide additional weight to keep the front apron down. although there are lots of very attractive ones these days, the standard pin could hardly be described as bling.

    On a leather kilt, I can hardly imagine the extra weight of a kilt pin will make any significant difference, though a suitable weighted magnetic one might, although they have a tendency to be attracted to passing metal objects. I know because I have made several for aircraft travel, a couple of which I have also lost manipulating luggage in the process.

    Since you cannot use a traditional pin, if you want something for show, why not consider taking it to a leather printing expert and getting them to print your choice of pin design onto the leather. An internet search based on leather printing should turn up someone within your local area that does it:
