As we are talking to a predominately US audience, many of whom have a military background, who have rather different traditions to us in the UK and we are talking about the Scottish kilt and its assorted attire in a civilian context. I do think that we are duty bound to try to not to give the wrong ideas about kilt wearing traditions by planting inaccurate ideas in their minds!

Agreed, but as a member of the Scottish American Military Society, I am often asked about Scottish Division dress.
I know what you mean about the dress. I was appalled this year during by an State Congressman. I thought he was a vagabond and I am not joking.
