Personally, I'd go with the Argyle, as it's the most versatile. It can be worn with black tie or as suit equivalent.

The trick here is to ask yourself, what you would wear if you were not going to wear the kilt? Then find the kilt equivalent. So what would you wear if not the kilt?

I found myself asking the exact same question. I went with a Wallace jacket and waistcoat (actually, a Kilt Kut Jacket, to be exact). The jacket has the look of a modern suit jacket, however it is cut to work with a kilt. In the right colour, it is just as versatile as an Argyle with the exception of a "black tie" event. It is more appropriate IMHO than an Argyle, Craig or PC for the workplace, for example.

Because you are the father of the bride you could up the formality a notch. I'd consider going with the black argyle, but a tweed would also work fine.
