Might I recommend something....
Perhaps you should ASK THE BRIDE.
Yep, she's your daughter. Yep, your paying a big chunk (I'm assuming). Nope, it's not your call because it's her day.
Take your daughter with you and show her the different options. Then, let her make the call.

My daughter and wife went with me to USA Kilts the day I went. We drove down from Maine, surprised our daughter to go dress shopping and they were 20 minutes away from the dress shop. She liked both the PC and Argyll jackets. We did not try on a tweed, the thought never crossed our minds. At the time my F-S-I-L was thinking tux but he has since decided a suit. Probably change his mind by time he gets back from the Dominican Republic. We will probably go down to Philly again before Christmas and head over to USA Kilts. I think I am more stressed then the ladies, they all have their outfits and bling ordered. LOL!

If the groom and groomsmen wear suits, go with a tweed jacket and necktie. If he decides on a tux, wear a Prince Charlie and black tie.

Another option
Something else you might consider are the "contemporary" kilt jackets. Black wool, so they are suitable for black tie, but because they don't have silver buttons, epaulets and gauntlet cuffs (or similar), they look a lot less costume-y. I purchased a Glen Orchy jacket and waistcoat from MacGregor and MacDuff and couldn't be happier. (although I'd recommend going up a size). Here's a link to the jacket:

But yes, by all means, check with your daughter!!!

P.S. My 10th post. Woohoo! I'm off probation!!
