What do you wear with Tartan Trews?

Thank you Dominic. To be clear here, inside seam, yes/no? Button fly, yes/no? Buttons for braces, yes/no? From your picture; Waist section?(Is that traditional?), Fishtail that look like add ons?(Is that traditional?) Belt loops?(Are they traditional?)

I love trews for eveningwear but have worn them with daywear. For daywear, I have preferred Saxon cut jackets (partly as it appears a bit more normal here in the States), but I am tempted to wear my tweed kilt jackets more with them.

The seam on trews is always on the inside so continuity can be on the outside of the leg. Maybe some tradition of a regiment might be otherwise, as the norm it is on the inside. Belts are worn on trews in the military as when worn with shirt sleeve order, always have been. Most trews that are issued due in fact come with belt loops and pockets. All of mine are issued, and all have loops and pockets. The form fitting trews are generally private purchase bespoke items officers buy, not the ones the nco's and jocks wear. Refer to the dress reg's of the Royal Regiment is Scotland easily found online if you want pictures and details.

I thought a couple of pictures of what I have in mind as "traditional" trews, that might help those that are not conversant with tartan trews. You will clearly see from my pictures that I have borrowed from Google images that these trews, are cut very differently to Dominic's picture and may help you understand my questions in an earlier post in this thread. Make no mistake there is nothing wrong with Dominic's trews, it just that I am not at all sure that the cut of his trews are traditional though, in fact one of my sons is very interested in the style and could well purchase a pair.

I hope that the difference can be plainly seen, in the two following images and Dominic's version of trews.


In this picture the "clip" fastenings of the braces are a modern, and sensible idea.

Having served in the Royal Scots where trews are worn instead of kilts, I would like to add my thoughts.

No fishtails, as we wore trews with shirt sleeve order, no beltloops and of course seams just inside of the leg.

Carlisle401, thank you for showing the memorial in full. The only exposure it seems to get are of the three faces when they are vandalized. I am still disgusted over what happened, they didn't deserve it.
