Absoutely. i have a couple of high yardage PV kilts. Because of my shape, the weight at the back of the kilt tends to make them sag at the back, creating a reverse slope effect. I don't have as much of a problem with my wool kilt which is lighter overall, but a lower yardage knife or box pleat certainly produces a better balance. I suggest you wait to see how you get on with the first one before malking a final decision as body shape can have a significant effect on what is or is not comfortable.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!

Sage advice, I have been thinking about that over the last 2 days and totally agree with your thoughts. I shall take a month or two to decide how it feels, not just in weight but also how comfortable it is on my natural waist, I normally wear jeans on my hips so i am sure it will feel a bit weird at first.

The last 3 weeks seem to have dragged, the next 3 will probably feel even longer. Can't remember feeling this way about clothing before, lots of excitement mixed with a little bit of trepidation.

My casual kilts, PV and acrylic, which I wear daily, sit on my hips and are shortened to suit. As a result they are much more comfortable for me to sit in than a higher waisted kilt is. If I wear a normal high waisted kilts loose enough to sit in comfortably, they have a tendency to slide down towards hip bones when standing or walking and then have to be tightened although a relatively large backside stops them going any further. You only find these things out from experience!

I prefer the knife pleats, but the box pleats look good too.
