OC Richard,
If you would care to look through some of your old posts where you posted photos you will probably start to see the photobucket icon saying you need to pay them to use 3rd party hosting.
This is the problem and why so many of us are finding an alternative to Photobucket. They want $900.00 just to be able to use your own photos. If you don't pay them the start to replace your photos after you posted with the icon. Then starts the long, involved process of figuring out what photo is not showing up anymore and replacing it in all your old posts with the saved copy on your hard drive.
If for some reason you do not have a copy anywhere but photobucket you will need to download from photobucket back to your hard drive. And they shut that ability off after every 20 downloads or so.

Interesting, I never heard of that stuff.
The reason some of my old links are dead, as far as I know, is that I moved most of the photos out of the default bucket into the various themed albums I created. I knew that doing so would sever the link.
It would be interesting to see if any photos that didn't get moved show up as dead links, that wouldn't be good!
It wouldn't bother me one bit if Photobucket were to suddenly eat my photos. I have them all backed up.
EDIT: I just checked some old posts from 2006 and 2007 on another site and the photos are alive and well.

Now I have seen the Photobucket policy changes, and I don't like them one bit.
Turns out that due to me paying for ad-free Photobucket my photos won't disappear until December 2018.
I'm migrating stuff over to Imgur.

The Photobucket changes have really done a number on many of the older threads on this site. None of Panache (Jamie)'s photos seem to be working right now, including the "One Kilt Ten Looks" sticky. Which is a pity, since I know he is a very stylish gent and those pictures would be helpful to newcomers (I remember viewing the "10 Looks" post several years ago and finding it very useful).
Of course, the problem is widespread, I've just noticed that it has affected all of the Panache posts, along with so many others that are hit or miss. Luckily most of OC Richard's posts are working, but as he noted above, that could all change in December 2018.
Many other online forums are suffering from the same problem: old threads of "look at this picture" that are now dead links. Very frustrating.

I know that many of our older posts are being re-worked by their owners and Jamie is one of those who is working on his pictures.

There are plenty of free hosting sites out there like imgbb.com . Photobucket have shot themselves in the foot with this $400 scam of theirs ![Evil or Very Mad](http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_evil.gif)
It's a shame old pictures cannot be transferred over.

Hi Terry, I use a Free Programme I've downloaded, it is called IrfanView. You download it to your computer.. It is a Image Viewer, and you can resize photos quite easily. I save them as jpgs, as they are smaller files than say png files. I've been using IrfanView for too many years to count. With this programme, you can resize, change colour to grey scale, plus save the photo to any extension, even convert jpgs to png, bmp, etc. Hope this helps.. Here's the link... http://www.irfanview.com/
