Reproduction Fraser (Or Similar Red) Images/Guidance
Hi
I currently have a Fraser Modern Red but I've always wanted something with colours which are a bit less in your face. I've been doing my research and I'm really leaning towards the Reproduction version offered by DC Dalgleish. I've had swatches of the Muted, Ancient and Weathered from various mills but can't get the reproduction from DC Dalgleish.
I've tried to do as much research as I can and most often ended up on this forum so I thought I may as well join and ask the experts directly. Does anyone have any images of the Fraser Reproduction from DC Dalgleish or another Reproduction tartan which uses the same red?
If not can anyone tell me how it compares to the other variations. What attracted me to the Reproduction colours was that they were toned down but the red was darker than the Ancient which is more orangey. Is this an accurate description?
Any advice that could be offered would be really appreciated. I have a sister who's getting angrier by the day that I haven't ordered my new kilt for her wedding yet!

Dalgleish has used two different shades of red for their Reproduction color scheme. The old version was a cranberry shade, very similar to the red used by Lochcarron in the Weathered color scheme. The new version is the same as the red used in the Wilsons of Bannockburn color scheme.
If the fabric is in stock, request a swatch. If it will be a custom-weave you can specify the specific shade you want based on yarn samples.

I have a swatch of Dalgliesh's reproduction MacNaughton, as it was the only one in stock similar enough to the Murray of Tullibardine that I was considering. But rather than the scarlet the online images suggested, it was more of a tomato red. Whereas House of Edgar's muted palette is much more to my liking, with a red that's almost burgundy, and blue and green that are darker than they typical ancient colors without being as dark as modern. However, it doesn't seem as if HOE has Fraser Red in the muted colors...but Marton Mills does: http://martonmills.com/product/fraser-red-mtd/
I've never seen any of their wool offerings in what they call muted, but I've made myself a kilt in MacNaughton Muted PV. The green and blue are more like the tan and cool grey of Dalgliesh's Reproduction colors or most weathered palettes. But the red, while not as dark as Edgar's muted, it still a richer shade of scarlet or brick rather than the borderline orange of the Reproduction sample.

You might be interested in this re-weave of Fraser of Struy' s plaid too. The shades will be more subtle than the standard Modern, Old etc., ranges.
